The Chatham Conservation Foundation is a non profit organization dedicated to the purpose of acquiring land, by gift or purchase to be preserved in its natural state in perpetuity. It was the first land conservation entity on Cape Cod when it received its Charter from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in 1962. The Foundation is governed by a volunteer Board of Trustees and supported by a dues-paying membership. An annual meeting of the membership is held generally on the first week in August in Chatham.

The Foundation maintains three walking trails for public use on its property and provides a Trail Map of these areas. CCF also owns the Mayo House, an 1700’s home and furnishings located in Chatham center, which it opens every summer with docent tours free of charge to the public.

CCF publishes a book about the Cape Cod shoreline and the plants that grow there, A Beachcomber’s Botony, written by Loren C. Petry and illustrated by Marcia G. Norman. Recently the Foundation has published a map of conservation lands in Chatham which includes Town conservation lands as well as CCF properties. The book ($12.95) and map ($14.00) are available through the Foundation’s office. To purchase either by mail, send check to:
