Chatham History Weekend, June 16-18, promises to be exciting at the Atwood House & Museum.
Admission will be free on Friday and Saturday, June 16-17, and visitors can explore two new exhibits, Chatham in the Military and Windows into Time - Clothing and Artifacts. The Atwood House & Museum, located at 347 Stage Harbor Road, Chatham, will be open from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. both days. Donations are welcome.
Sunday afternoon, June 18 at 2 p.m., the At the Atwood Lecture Series will host The Winged Cell Phone of Yesteryear, presented by Phil Kyle. Admission is free for museum members and $5 for non-members.
A“Voyage to the Colonies” concert performed by the American Baroque Orchestra, will be played later Sunday afternoon at 4 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, at 569 Main Street in Chatham. The concert ventures into the soundscapes of colonial times, showcasing hymns, dances, and songs that were sung or played by our founders. The program also features music by renowned European composers who influenced music of the time. Authentic instruments from the 1700s and 1800s are used by orchestra members.
Proceeds from this concert go directly to the Chatham Historical Society/Atwood House & Museum. General admission is $25 per person in advance, $30 at the door; $15 for students.
Children age 6 and under may enter free. Limited reserved seating is $40 per person. Reservations are encouraged by emailing atwoodmuseumevents@gmail.com or calling (508) 945- 2493.
