Name: “Plastics - Can’t Live With ‘em, Can’t Live Without ‘em” with Nick Schott
    Date: August 22, 2019
    Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT
    Event Description:

Today, plastics permeate our lives.  From cheap disposable packaging and water bottles at one extreme to vital replacement human body parts at the other, plastics are everywhere and in virtually everything.  And they don’t biodegrade.  Nick Schott explores both the virtues of plastics and the problems that their existence and uses have created for society.

Dr. Schott is Professor Emeritus of the Plastics Engineering Department at UMass Lowell.  In addition to his teaching experience, he is an active consultant in the plastics processing and design field, and is a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers as well as a member of AICHE, ACS and ASEE.

Chatham Marconi Maritime Center is pleased to host its 2019 Summer Speaker Series, a summer-long series of lectures and presentations drawn from the resources of the Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum, the Summer Science program, and member-suggested topics related to our mission.

    Location:

Programs will be presented in its air conditioned Education Center at 831 Orleans Road, North Chatham MA 02650 (the large brick building on Route 28 opposite Ryder’s Cove) unless otherwise noted.

Seating space is limited.  If it appears that a particular talk may attract interest which would overwhelm Chatham Marconi’s limited seating capacity, the event may be moved to a larger nearby venue with as much advance notice provided as is possible.   No Tickets or reservations are needed.  However, so that we may gauge the likely number of attendees, please send an e-mail to:  reservations@ChathamMarconi.org with “Plastics” as the subject, your name, and the number of people attending.
