Bourbon Sunset brings their acoustic music and vocal harmonies to First Congregational Church of Chatham. Bourbon Sunset, a trio comprising Chris Miner, Peter Waful and Lynda Shuster on mandolin, guitar and banjo, will present beautiful country- and folk-based songs. They perform an eclectic mix of tunes, focusing on close harmonies.
Bourbon Sunset covers songs by artists including Crosby, Stills and Nash, Gordon Lightfoot, The Eagles, and John Prine.
August 12 - "Joe Mongelli & Friends"
Come join Joe Mongelli, trumpet and flugelhorn player, for a jazz concert at the First Congregational Church of Chatham on August 12. The band will channel some of the greatest hits recorded by Miles Davis and John Coltrane from the late 1950s and early 1960s. Davis’ original arrangements have been meticulously re-created for this event, which will include Scott Avidon on sax, Mark Borgmann on piano, Michael Ryle on bass and Mike Dunford on drums.
This concert promises to be an exceptional evening of jazz.
August 19 - Jacqueline Schwab presents "I Lift My Lamp" - Celebrating American Immigrant Culture
Jacqueline Schwab, nationally acclaimed pianist and primary musician for multiple Ken Burns documentaries including "Civil War," will present a program celebrating America’s immigrants: their vibrant spirit of community, music-making, and multicultural contributions to our heritage. Jacqueline will present dance tunes and sentimental songs from Scotland, Ireland, Poland, France, Eastern Europe, the African-American community, Cuba, Brazil and Argentina, along with Tin Pan Alley tunes, American anthems and more.
Jacqueline will reflect on growing up in Pittsburgh’s “melting pot,” as well as her later exploration of music from around the world. It promises to be a lively and soulful evening.
August 26 - "CrabGrass Blue Grass" Season Finale for the Sounds by the Sea Concert Series
Come enjoy some upbeat old-time music with the Cape’s premier bluegrass band. Les Beavan on banjo, Chris Miner on mandolin, Dan Fortier on guitar, Katy Boc on fiddle, and Ted Mello on bass will deliver a lively show to wrap up the summer concert series.
CrabGrass, founded in 1999, plays both traditional and some of the more contemporary bluegrass tunes. This all-acoustic style of music came into being when Bill Monroe combined Appalachian traditions, fiddle tunes and old Southern gospel. “We will play some slow songs,” said Chris Miner, “but the music is pretty upbeat!’Tickets $15 at the door only
