This talk will discuss the key attributes of the next generation 5G wireless network\, the new benefits that 5G will create\, and what will it take to build a 5G network. Our speaker is Ed Chan\, the Senior Vice President and Chief Network Engineering Officer at Verizon Communications. He leads the engineering\, implementation and performance optimization of the Verizon networks including 4G\, 5G\, FiOS\, and the global IP/MPLS networks. Previously\, Ed was the SVP & Chief Technology Architect\, and was responsible for the strategic technology evolution and capital planning for the Verizon networks and IT infrastructure. Ed has been in the network industry for over 25 years\, and hold an MSE from the University of Pennsylvania and a BSEE from Rutgers University. \n\nChatham Marconi Maritime Center is pleased to host its 2019 Summer Speaker Series\, a summer-long series of lectures and presentations drawn from the resources of the Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum\, the Summer Science program\, and member-suggested topics related to our mission. Seating space is limited. If it appears that a particular talk may attract interest which would overwhelm Chatham Marconi's limited seating capacity\, the event may be moved to a larger nearby venue with as much advance notice provided as is possible.
