    • About

The mission of The Chatham Marconi Maritime Center is to preserve and demonstrate history of maritime wireless communication and restore the Operations Building, to highlight Marconi’s accomplishments and to develop innovative science education and mentoring programs. The RCA campus of distinctive brick buildings is in North Chatham overlooking Ryder's Cove.
Founded in 2002, the Chatham Marconi Maritime Center sits on the 11.3-acre, 10-building campus which comprised the former Marconi-RCA Wireless Receiving Station, once the busiest ship-to-shore station on the East Coast and a significant military installation during World War II. CMMC has preserved the historic integrity of the former operations and hotel buildings on the site for a museum and an education center. Through its exhibits and videos, the Museum traces the story of wireless communications from the formative days in Chatham with Marconi, through the mid-20th century when operators at the station communicated with ships at sea around the world. The Education Center on the campus has a state-of-art education room as well as a large room for exhibits and public events.
