    CAPE REP’S THEATRELAB CONTINUES WINTER 2019
     
    Cape Rep Theatre, 3299 Rt. 6A, Brewster, is pleased to announce the continuation of its professional theater training program, TheatreLab, with Playwriting 1 with Art Devine running Saturday mornings from 9 am - 1 pm from January 12, 2019 through March 24, 2019.  All classes take place in the Community Room of Cape Rep’s Cape House.     Class description:
    Playwriting 1 with Art Devine (for all levels; pre-requisite for Playwriting 2): Cape Rep’s Resident Playwright Art Devine, author and director of many plays including Cape Rep’s hit, 9-Ball, continues his popular playwriting courses with Playwriting 1, a writing class for students of all levels of experience eager to learn or hone the craft of playwriting. With the Cape’s rich culture of theater, Cape Rep’s TheatreLab provides professional theater training to any Cape Cod artist hoping to improve or expand his or her skills.
     
    About Playwriting 1: You know there is a story in you.  Why not try your hand at dramatizing it? Learn the basics of storytelling through the medium of playwriting. Kick-start your creativity by writing a short play. Art will have you writing in the very first session. Playwriting 1 runs Saturdays 9 am - 1 pm beginning January 12, 2019 and continuing for 8 weeks. The class will culminate in a showcase of student-created short plays Sunday, March 24, 2019. Classes are held in the Community Room of Cape Rep’s Cape House. There are limited spots available so call now to register 508.896.1888 or online at caperep.org.  Fee: $350 
     
    About the teacher:  Art Devine is a multi-talented theater artist. He has written three world premieres for Cape Rep (9-Ball, Winter Wheat and The Bottom of the Sky).  His most recent directing credits at Cape Rep include the world premiere of The Tuna Goddess, written by his playwriting student, Jade Schuyler, 9-Ball, Our Country’s Good, Topdog/Underdog, Sunday in the Park with George and A Streetcar Named Desire.  His most recent acting credits include Henslowe in Shakespeare in Love, Mrs. Bumbrake/Teacher in Peter and the Starcatcher, Gal in Rough Crossing, Mr. Burns in Mr. Burns, a post-electric play, Rooster in Jerusalem, Dindon in La Cage Aux Folles and Roy in The Light in the Piazza, all at Cape Rep Theatre. Art trained at Trinity Rep Conservatory.
