Hyannis, Mass, February 7, 2010 - The American Red Cross, Cape Cod and Islands Chapter, is pleased to announce that Richard Brothers of Chatham will be honored as a Red Cross Community Impact and Service Hero at its 8th Annual Heroes Breakfast on Thursday, March 4, 2010 at the Resort and Conference Center at Hyannis, MA from 7:00-9:00 A.M. Tickets and Sponsorships are available via www.cciredcross.org or by calling (508) 775-1540.
Richard Brothers is always out front advocating for the needy. However, he always seems to drift to the back when the recognition for effort, results and community impact are being handed out. The Cape and Islands United Way, where Rich is the Executive Director, is the single largest non-governmental funder of human service programs on the Cape and Islands. Over 150 volunteers support Richard and the agency to do more with the limited funds available to make a positive difference in our community. This is the business end of Richard’s contribution, a contribution we are all aware of.
What importantly needs to be recognized is the role Rich has taken, without fanfare and with great humility, as the builder of partnerships, as the cheerleader and motivator of inter-agency collaboration, and as the believer in our community to rise up and meet the challenges of so many in need. The not for profits of the Cape and Islands have gained measurable opportunity for development, access to education to improve skills and develop their agencies all through Rich’s efforts. He has stepped well beyond this critical role of fundraising to not only better define the impact the United Way wants to make in the areas of nurturing and protecting children, supporting and sustaining families and in support for aging and vulnerable populations of our islands but to invest in himself to make it happen. His contributions are immeasurable.
The Red Cross touches lives in our community every day through programs and services such as disaster relief and health and safety training. As an organization committed to helping the community, the Red Cross is honored to salute individuals and organizations, who are making a difference through their actions at its 8th Annual Red Cross Heroes Breakfast.
