Chatham Business Owners To Receive Cape Cod Score "Build A Better Mousetrap" Award

HYANNIS – Joanne Doggart & Caitlin Doggart-Bernal owners of Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore, have been selected by the Chatham Chamber of Commerce to receive a Build a Better Mousetrap Award from Cape Cod SCORE at its seventeenth annual awards breakfast to be held Thursday May 20 at Old Yarmouth Inn.
Where the Sidewalk Ends Bookstore is a mother-daughter owned general interest bookstore located in a two-story "antique" barn on the East End of Chatham's Historic Main Street Shopping District. It opened in May of 2005 and has steadily grown to encompass popular Fancy Nancy Tea Parties at the Captain's House Inn and Author Literary Luncheons at the Wequassett Inn. Summer 2010 will usher in a new era with the expansion of their children's section into the building next door, connected to the main bookstore by a covered deck with a gazebo-like feel. The "Children's Annex" will feature toys that foster imagination and storytelling. The Wednesday Morning Theme Party Story Hours in the summer months will continue, with added room for outdoor seating in the new construction. Free WIFI, a small cafe, and seating by the working fireplace all add to the charming ambiance. Year-round Author Signings and Book Clubs have integrated the bookstore into the Chatham community, and owners Joanne and Caitlin Doggart are grateful for the support of the town's residents and visitors and the dedicated staff.
Top honors at the SCORE awards breakfast go to the Small Business Owner of the Year who is selected from among the counseling organization’s small business clients. Various chambers of commerce select those who receive SCORE’s Build a Better Mousetrap Awards which this year will go to seventeen small businesses that have survived the critical first five years of operation and appear to be headed for long-term success.
