Sewer Construction Paving Update

Chatham
– For the week of November 14th, weather permitting, the following is the expected paving schedule for the section of Route 28 between Sam Ryder Road and George Ryder Road. 

Monday/Tuesday – preparation/paving of cross trenches. 

Wednesday – contractor will be raising covers, one-lane alternating traffic. 

Thursday/Friday – final paving. 

Route 28 thru traffic will be detoured at Sam Ryder Road to Old Queen Anne Road. Local traffic can utilize George Ryder Road to reach local businesses, residences and side streets. Thru traffic should continue on Queen Anne Road. There will be extensive signage and Police Detail Officers to assist traffic in reaching their destinations.

On Thursday, November 17th final paving will begin at the intersection of Route 28, Sam Ryder Road, and Colonial Drive. Paving in the intersection is expected to take place in the early morning. During the intersection paving Route 28 thru traffic will be detoured on Route 137 (Meetinghouse Road) to Old Queen Anne Road. Access to Route 28 homes, businesses, and side streets between Sam Ryder Road and Route 137 will access from the Route 137 end. Access to Route 28 homes, businesses, and side streets between Sam Ryder Road and George Ryder Road will access from the George Ryder Road end. The transfer station can be accessed from the Old Queen Anne Road end of Sam Ryder Road. Route 28 will not be accessible from Sam Ryder Road during the intersection paving. Once the intersection has been paved Route 28 between Route 137 and Sam Ryder Road will re-open to all traffic.

Sewer construction will continue on Route 28 between Old Queen Anne Road and Barn Hill Road, with the George Ryder Road to Old Queen Anne Road detour. There will be extensive signage and Police Detail Officers to assist traffic in reaching their destinations.

Work will take place Monday to Friday from 7 AM to 7 PM as allowed by the MassDOT Permit. Route 28 will be open to all traffic during the overnight hours, on weekends, and holidays.
