The Artful Dinghies, Dories, and Skiffs on Display at the Eldredge Public Library

Published on Thursday, April 17, 2008

The Artful Dinghies, Dories, and Skiffs, a photographic exhibit of 25 color images at the Eldredge Public Library, Chatham, MA, April 28 – May 18. All are invited to attend a reception on May 1, 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm in the Forgeron Meeting Room, to meet and discuss the images with the photographer, Deborah Scarff.

These images depict the character and charm of the many small boats found along Chatham’s coastline and beaches. Deborah Scarff, a lifelong New Englander, shows the artful aspect of these working skiffs through her photographs and demonstrates a positive view of these typical New England scenes. Through her work, Scarff hopes to focus on the characteristics of these boats and views that attract many people to these beaches in search of New England’s quaintness and charm. She wants people to take notice of what makes us in New England different from other regions and to appreciate the ordinary as art.

Please visit Deborah’s website, for a preview of the exhibit, and details on purchasing these images. Click on the gallery, Chathams Dinghies Dories and Skiffs.
