Rapid advances in wireless technologies continue to improve every aspect of our lives since the first generation of cellular phones. This talk will discuss the key attributes of the next generation 5G wireless network, the new benefits that 5G will create, and what will it take to build a 5G network. Our speaker is Ed Chan, the Senior Vice President and Chief Network Engineering Officer at Verizon Communications. He leads the engineering, implementation and performance optimization of the Verizon networks including 4G, 5G, FiOS, and the global IP/MPLS networks. Previously, Ed was the SVP & Chief Technology Architect, and was responsible for the strategic technology evolution and capital planning for the Verizon networks and IT infrastructure. Ed has been in the network industry for over 25 years, and hold an MSE from the University of Pennsylvania and a BSEE from Rutgers University.
