An illustrated talk (45 min) that will include the basic biological features of the horseshoe crab and the ecosystem of which it is a part. Emphasis will be placed upon challenges facing this species, especially in terms of habitat, harvesting, and the need for better stewardship. Special attention will be paid to the "magic of Monomoy."
Brenda Boleyn, biologist, taught for 25 yrs in the Science Dept. at Cape Cod Community College. She has served on many boards and committees related to education and conservation efforts. Currently she chairs the Horseshoe Crab Conservation Association, which has been at work for more than 15 years.
