Learn to Curl with the Lower Cape Curling Club
The Lower Cape Curling Club is offering a two-session “Learn to Curl” program on consecutive Sunday afternoons, September 8th & 15th, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at its home rink, the Charles Moore Arena in Orleans.
Participants will learn the on-ice basics of throwing stones, either by traditional “sliding” or standing “stick” delivery and sweeping; receive off-ice instruction on safety, scoring, and technique; and be introduced to the sport’s history and traditions.
Pre-registration is available through the arena’s website www.charlesmoorearena.com
for $50 (covers both sessions) while walk-in day of registration is $60. Participants should dress warmly and bring clean soft-soled shoes or sneakers. All other equipment is provided.
Completion of the “Learn to Curl” program prepares individuals to join the club and participate in fall leagues which are held on Sunday afternoons at 4:30 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. beginning September 22, 2019.
The Lower Cape Curling Club was established in 2018 to teach, promote and encourage the sport of curling; to develop programs that lead to local, national and international competitions; to promote good sportsmanship and camaraderie during both intense competition or simply while having fun; to teach the sport to all interested by creating public awareness and appreciation for the sport; and to provide a fun and safe atmosphere for club members and spectators.
