“Plastics - Can’t Live With ‘em, Can’t Live Without ‘em” with Nick Schott
Today, plastics permeate our lives. From cheap disposable packaging and water bottles at one extreme to vital replacement human body parts at the other, plastics are everywhere and in virtually everything. And they don’t biodegrade. Nick Schott explores both the virtues of plastics and the problems that their existence and uses have created for society.
Dr. Schott is Professor Emeritus of the Plastics Engineering Department at UMass Lowell. In addition to his teaching experience, he is an active consultant in the plastics processing and design field, and is a Fellow of the Society of Plastics Engineers as well as a member of AICHE, ACS and ASEE.
Chatham Marconi Maritime Center is pleased to host its 2019 Summer Speaker Series, a summer-long series of lectures and presentations drawn from the resources of the Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum, the Summer Science program, and member-suggested topics related to our mission.
