“The Culture and Cuisine of Marconi’s Italy”, with Fiona Lowry
Living on Lake Orta, in Italy’s Piemonte region for 22 years allowed Fiona Lowry to cultivate fluent Italian and “a passion for Italian food, wine and culture”. In this preview of CMMC’s upcoming October private tour of “Marconi’s Italy”, she shares her insights into the fine wines and cuisine of Bologna and the surrounding central Italian countryside. An experienced and widely-travelled tour operator, Fiona was born in Ireland and educated in Nova Scotia and Singapore. Her degree in Modern History & French at Edinburgh University has led to jobs all over the world. For 28 years she has been creating and leading cultural tours worldwide as founder and CEO of a UK-based tour operating company. Elected a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society in 1993, she also plays the ‘cello and is a “very keen birdwatcher”.
