Town staff including the Town Manager, Project Engineer, and President of Sciaba Construction met today to review progress on re-constructing the popular Chatham Fish Pier Observation Deck in light of the start of the busy commercial fishing and tourism summer seasons.

While substantial progress has been made to provide a safe working environment for the offloading of fresh seafood product, erection of the observation deck, a popular tourist destination remains to be completed. Both the Town and Contractor agree that fish-off-loading activities conducted in a safe, healthy environment is the main priority.

The meeting discussed progress to date, remaining work, status of off-site fabrication of deck components, ability of the Contractor to work safely around fish off-loading operations or during hours that off-loading operations are not occurring, the Contractors proposed schedule to complete the work, etc. The Contractor is reviewing their proposed schedule for remining work relative to fish off-loading activity, which is expected to ramp up over the coming days, to confirm their ability to substantially complete work by July 19th. The next progress meeting will held on Tuesday, July 9th.
