Chatham Music Club holds “Virtual Competition” for High School Students.
The Chatham Music Club, an organization of both professional and avocational musicians held its annual Classical Music Competition for High School Students on Friday June 4th.
The competition this year took place virtually and 12 local high school musicians were accepted to audition. The competition is open to high school students who live on Cape Cod or study with a Cape Cod teacher.
The adjudicators, all professional musicians were Elizabeth Tipton, Joel Esten, Lucy Banner, Carole Maloof, Matt Scinto, LeeAnn McKenna and Anne Franciose Perrault.
Prizes totaling $4,500,00 were awarded to five students, with additional honorariums to seven students. We are pleased to announce the first prize went to local pianists James DellaMorte of West Barnstable and Avery Wang of North Falmouth. Thomas Marchio, classical guitarist from South Harwich and Katalena Hume, violinist from Woods Hole were tied for second prize. Christian Bearse, baritone from Cotuit received third prize.
