    Time: 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM EDT
    Event Description:

Rapid advances in wireless technologies continue to improve every aspect of our lives since the first generation of cellular phones.  This talk will discuss the key attributes of the next generation 5G wireless network, the new benefits that 5G will create, and what will it take to build a 5G network.  Our speaker is Ed Chan, the Senior Vice President and Chief Network Engineering Officer at Verizon Communications.  He leads the engineering, implementation and performance optimization of the Verizon networks including 4G, 5G, FiOS, and the global IP/MPLS networks.  Previously, Ed was the SVP & Chief Technology Architect, and was responsible for the strategic technology evolution and capital planning for the Verizon networks and IT infrastructure.  Ed has been in the network industry for over 25 years, and hold an MSE  from the University of Pennsylvania and a BSEE from Rutgers University.

Chatham Marconi Maritime Center is pleased to host its 2019 Summer Speaker Series, a summer-long series of lectures and presentations drawn from the resources of the Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum, the Summer Science program, and member-suggested topics related to our mission.

Programs will be presented in its air conditioned Education Center at 831 Orleans Road, North Chatham MA 02650 (the large brick building on Route 28 opposite Ryder’s Cove) unless otherwise noted.

Seating space is limited.  If it appears that a particular talk may attract interest which would overwhelm Chatham Marconi’s limited seating capacity, the event may be moved to a larger nearby venue with as much advance notice provided as is possible.   No Tickets or reservations are needed.  However, so that we may gauge the likely number of attendees, please send an e-mail to:  reservations@ChathamMarconi.org with “5G” as the subject, your name, and the number of people attending.
