The Marconi-RCA Wireless Museum will be open 1-4 p.m. Friday May 26, 10:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday May 27 and 1-4 p.m. Sunday, May 28.
New exhibits preview this Memorial Day weekend. In addition to its permanent exhibits, the museum’s Wireless History gallery debuts a special exhibit for 2017, “BREAKING BARRIERS – THE WOMEN AIRFORCE SERVICE PILOTS (WASP) of WWII”. On the WASP’s 75th anniversary year, the exhibit tells the story of the first women to fly for the US military, featuring material from the National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force in Pooler, GA, Texas Women’s University, and the National WASP Museum in Sweetwater, TX.
Several new exhibits in the Wireless Today gallery are also nearing completion, featuring the evolution of digital technology from tubes to transistors to smartphones. The museum’s third gallery is the Antenna Field Trail, a winding path through the flora and fauna of Cape Cod with interpretive signs identifying and describing the station’s historical and working antennas, providing the opportunity for visitors to view the preserved 1914 station campus at any time during daylight hours.
The museum’s regular summer season begins Friday June 16 with celebration of Chatham History Weekend. For more information, visit ChathamMarconi.org or call the Center at 508-945-8889.
